An open heart will hear the message

When this card appears, you are being reminded that there is a time to speak, and a time to be silent. Now is an occasion for listening. Pay attention not only to what is being spoken, but also to what is not being said at the moment, for the deeper message is not always obvious. Listen with your heart, not with your ears, and you’ll find clarity. Receiving the Listening card is a fortunate sign and ensures a greater understanding of your circumstances.

Reversed

oracle-card-image-colette-baron-reid-triple-moon-alchemy

Are you feeling that your not being heard-that perhaps your needs aren’t valid, that your song will go unsung? Now is the time to bring your message to the world. Speak up…it’s time for your voice to resound throughout your sphere of influence. This is a moment to say what you mean and ask for what you want.

In the Reversed position Listening has another meaning too. It also asks if you are refusing to listen to someone else, preferring to hear what you want instead of whats being said. This is a time to get out of denial. Reversed this card always brings freedom if you heed its advice.

Herbs For Healing Magick

Herbalism + Magick

My love affair with herbs, and roots began a long long time ago. Just the thought of my little knees, busted from running and falling outside, makes me giggle. My grandmother, in true medicine woman fashion would pluck a leaf from her huge aloe vera plant, and heal the ouch. I was always amazed at how quickly the pain and swelling would dissipate. This really struck a chord with me, even as a little girl. My curiosity and natural by birth given tendency to explore, learn, and heal continues to lead me as I journey along as a Wise Woman.

I believe that on the journey of life, all of the steps and even so called mistakes, all add to our journey’s purpose. There have been several pivotal moments in my life that has urged my healing instincts to surface. I laugh sometimes when I think of how the nickname “dr. quinn” was given to me by my dear mother because I would always proclaim, “I have an herb for that!” At this point, it is just who I am.

The apothecary is my latest attempt to help heal the world. Magickal Herbalism is my way of contributing to the folk medicine healing community. Not many herbalists use magick in relation to their herbal practices and preparations. I do. I believe that everything is connected. We ARE the cosmos. Herbal medicine is the medicine of the people. If you are unfamiliar, let me help guide you.

Below is another herbal list. This list is focused on the natural healing properties of the herb, the planets, zodiac signs, and energy that it carries with it. I have included the link to Triple Moon Apothecary Etsy page where you may purchase any of the herbs listed here. Most are sold in ½ oz., and 1oz., sizes.

Candle Magick: No Toxins Allowed

Fire. The element that governs the South of the four corners. Associated with the Soul, passion, and creation. Fire is creative as well as destructive. In modern times we use candles as an excellent vehicle for this element. Candles not only provide heat and light, they can help move our magickal intentions forward. The sad truth though is that not all candles are equal. Don’t pollute your air and lungs in the pursuit of harnessing this most essential element.

In fact, when you burn candles, you are either purifying or polluting the air that you and your family breathes. Isnt that amazing? We just light the candle we got from the store without a thought of what kind of wax we are burning and if it is harmful in any way. Sadly, most are indeed harmful.

This begs the question though; which type of candles ARE safe for myself and my family? I’m glad you asked. Well, let’s start with what kinds are not good and can be potentially harmful. Then I will share which wax I use for my ritual candles and why.

Candles have been used for millennia for very practical uses. Today, we use candles in much craft work, for illumination, for fire and wax magick, and for many other reasons. With all that we use them for, we have to be careful that we are not polluting the air that we are breathing in the process. How backward is it to be doing a working for abundant health but be burning toxic candles while performing the spell?

There are relatively eight different waxes that are typically used in modern candle making. Some are made of natural oils or waxes, a couple are by products of petroleum, and a few are made of synthetic materials. If you are like me, you are conscious about your family’s environment and air quality. Breathing in some of the smoke that some of these types of waxes put out, is down right dangerous.

Paraffin wax is one of the worst types of wax. Most commercial candles are made with paraffin wax. If you have candles in your home right now, look on the label on the bottom of the candle. Check the ingredients to see if your candle is paraffin or a mix of paraffin. If it is, throw it out right now. Like I said, most commercial candles sold in the US are made with this toxic wax. Paraffin wax emits air pollutants and black soot that is filled with harmful toxins. These toxins bind to our blood cells when we breathe them in and wreak havoc on our nervous systems. Sorry, not sorry to break it to you. This is an unfortunate truth.

I have used soy wax in the past. It is toxin free when it burns which is cool but what turned me off about soy wax was that most retailers sell it blended. MOST blends are only 20% soy if that, and 80% toxic wax. Even the ones that say other wise, are selling us a blend with very little soy wax in it. That lead me to want to mix soy and beeswax myself. That way, I knew that my wax would be pure. Eventually, I moved to using only 100% pure beeswax. It works perfectly for all of my candles. Doesn’t matter if it’s votives, tapers, pillars, they hold up and burn longer, stronger, and brighter. Best of all, the absolute best thing of all is that beeswax burns clean. No toxins. As a matter of fact, beeswax neutralizes the air as it burns. Isn’t that the best? Neutralizing the air means that it removes odors and negative ions. Studies have shown that burning 100% pure beeswax stimulates the pituitary gland, increasing intuition, creativity and heightens dream activity. I feel like burning my 100% pure beeswax candle before bed helps me get more restful sleep. There is nothing like the way that the warm golden glow warms up my bedroom when I am settling into relaxation. I have them in my sacred space. I light them when I do yoga and meditation. To me, 100% pure beeswax candles help me get in my zone. I swear that I can feel a difference in the room after they have been burning for a while.

Sadly, the loose label laws in the USA make it possible for manufacturers to lie to us. If a label says “pure” we think that means…well, pure. Nope! In this country 51% of an ingredient is enough to get the green light to label something “pure”. The other 49% is toxic paraffin. It is important that when buying safe candles for you and your family that you see the phrase 100% pure beeswax. If it’s not listed, it aint 100% pure beeswax. When you buy 100% pure beeswax candles you are making a decision for better health. Paying a little extra for my health is worth it to me.

20170228_134050

I make my own candles and I only use 100% pure beeswax. Sometimes I blend coconut oil with the beeswax. Still, this is a clean safe burn that emits no harmful toxins. Also, I never use wicks with lead in them.

Remember:

Beeswax is Non-Toxic

Beeswax is Long Burning

Beeswax is Clean Burning

Beeswax is Naturally Dripless

Beeswax is Burns Brightly

Beeswax is Renewable

I hope that this is helpful. I know that we use loads and loads of candles each year in the occult arts world. Be sure that the candles you light are not causing more harm than good.

Until next time. Be well. Blessed be. Ase.
