The Full Mother Moon is upon us all once again. This Full Moon in April is an emotionally strong one. Is it because Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus are currently all in retrograde? I don’t know. My astrology knowledge is limited., that’s why I look to the experts. Astrologer Patricia Lilies says this, “This Libra Full Moon is aligned with Jupiter so the yin, emotional and feminine (Moon) is expanded and magnified by Jupiter’s unrestrained presence in air sign Libra. Air signs are mental; so expect both some emotional objectivity along with excessive emotional analysis even obsession by the mind. An air sign Moon teaches us flexibility, to bend like a tree in the wind and to fly above the earth and gain perspective, neutrality and clarity.”
The Moon is such a primary force in all of our lives, which brings me to my point for this post. Women, the divine beings that we are, get to experience the Moon’s flow in a very physical way throughout our cycles. When we ovulate, creative potential is ripe. When we bleed, we are letting go of and cleansing the previous cycle. In this way, we wax and wane with the Moon, inviting in and letting go with each of Her shifting cycles.
I am so into my period. I know how that sounds, but it’s true. I mean, I am into the wisdom and discovery that women are fortunate to possess and understand about our bodies, and consequently, the universe during the peak of the menstrual cycle. Herbalist and healer Susan Weed says, “The blood mysteries teach that menstrual blood and birthing blood are holy blood, power blood, healing blood.” Being into with our cycle is our birthright as natural born women.
Are you aware of which Moon you have your period? Many women who understand the relationship between the moon and their menstrual cycle seek to align their cycle with the moon. If you don’t already, now is a good time to learn more about your flow, and yourself.
Full Moon is when the moon has reached its zenith, it forms a perfect silvery sphere in the sky. This is a time for spells that transform, increase psychic ability, for fertility spells and invocation to lunar goddesses. This is a time of strength, love and power. At this time the moon represents the Goddess in her Mother aspect of the Triple Goddess. Consider Mother goddesses Yemoja, like Isis, Demeter, Frigg to name a few.
One of my remote mentors Dr. Christiane Northrup writes in Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom that “Getting my period at the time of the full moon results in a more intense period, I am more emotionally charged than usual, and my bleeding is often heavier than normal.” I can relate with that. Like most women which Moon I bleed with changes throughout the calendar year. Life phases and other cycles affect the flow also. The Full Moon is a very intuitive and productive time. The energy of full moon menstruation is outward, world-nourishing. The transformational quality of the Full Moon fire energy aligned in such a way that we can learn to transform negative energies into positive ones.
Isn’t that dope!? This means that we can learn to move away from the actions and ways that create internal and external chaos during our cycle, and transform that energy into something that we can grow from. I hope that you are not one of those period hating women. If so, and you are still reading, maybe it’s time to change the way you experience this blessed event, and begin to see the potential for growth and expansion.
Full Moon menstrual flow awareness tips:
A time of heightened feelings and psychic abilities.
Major workings should occur now.
Full moons represent the culmination of energy, fruition, completion and celebration, as well as releasing and shedding of the old to pave way for a whole new cycle.

Question to ask yourself during this flow time:
Where am I willing to let go and release?
Where can I surrender and allow myself to flow more?
Where have I been pushing too hard?
Where can I allow more ease?
What needs are not being met?
What parts of my life do I need more support with?
Can I ask for what I need?
What am I not expressing?
What am I depressed/frustrated/angry/sad about from this last cycle?
What feels disappointing?
What would I like to see shift in the next cycle?
The answers to these questions should help to get us in touch with our menstrual intuition so that we can learn more about our thoughts and emotional state during our period.
This quote by Inga Muscio echoes my sentiment perfectly. She says, “…by honoring the demands of our bleeding, our blood gives us something in return. The crazed bitch from irritation hell recedes. In her place arises a side of ourselves with whom we may not at first be comfortable. She is vulnerable, highly perceptive genius who can ponder a given issue and take her world by storm. When we’re quiet and bleeding, we stumble upon solutions to dilemmas that’ve been bugging us all month. Inspiration hits and moments of epiphany rumba ‘cross the tundra of our senses. In this mode of existence one does not feel antipathy towards a bodily ritual that so profoundly and reinforces our cuntpower.” – Inga Muscio, Cunt: A Declaration of Independence
Be honored and pleased to be a woman with a period. Even when the fullness of age has come, and we no longer bleed, the cycles morph into something new. Each month is another opportunity to understand yourself more, in order to heal ourselves, and heal the world. I hope that this was helpful in that way. Happy Full Moon. Until next time.
Blessed be. Ashe.
